When you, entering a forest, perceive the beauty of the forest and you feel to be in a complete harmony with it, then, intuitively, you are in peace with the Deities. They are an essential part of our real nature, our Deep Nature, and when we are separated by our real nature we live in the fear. Perceiving such normality means giving a real sense to our lives.

Undertaking the Roman Via to the Deities implies a path to awakening: with the practice of continuing consciousness and awareness we undertake our walking knowing that taking the path is more important than the destination itself

April - Venus

April is a month enterely dedicated to Nature and to Nature's Beauty. Many Goddesses are celebrated during this month above all Venus.

Venus is the sacralization of Beauty: in particular she is "The Revealed and Disclosed Beauty".
Her sacred trees are: cherry tree, myrtle, daisy, rose, lime and apple tree.
Her sacred animals are: stork, sparrow, frog, dolphin, swan, hare, turtle and dove.

A Venus' fundamental symbol is the shell.

Venus is also identified as:
  • Venere Pandemia: physical love
  • Venere Urania: spiritual love
  • Venere Murcia: she-mitigating
  • Venere Verticordia: passion

Venus is symbolized by a cone dark stone.

Other important Gods/Goddesses celebrated in April are:
  • Ceres: "the nuorishing land". She is also named "Flavia" (blonde, clear), "frugifera" (giving fruits), she is the sacred symbol of corn cultivation. Spike, poppy, pig and heifer are sacred to Ceres.
  • Tellus: the Earth, symbol of stability and solidity (Tellus Stabilita), she-generating energy. She is represented surrounded by children. Sacred animal: veal
  • Pale: ancient Goddess of pastures and herds.

It is possible to provide some brief and simple citations about a deeper meaning and sense of the cult and symbology of Venus.

Venus represents the Generating Force hidden inside Nature, in particular the generating and purificating force of Water. It is important ot note that the letter "V" as initial of her name and the symbol of Venus are linked to the hermetic symbol of Water however connected to the feminine sexuality. The purificating power of Water-Venus is also evidenced by the Goddess' nudity: I will discuss this complex topic in another post.

Venus contains in the same time Life and Death: she is defined also "mortis et vitae locus".
Venus symbolizes, in hermetic terms, the passivity, contraction, the Original Primigenial Force, the "Wet Path", "the Green Path", copper, sexuality, the lumbar region.

Venus is also somehow linked to the secret name of Rome.

 The roman grafito in Pompeii

The importance of the cult of Venus in Rome is extremely well known and the realtion between the name of Rome and Venus is also evidenced by the famous grafito in Pompeii.
