When you, entering a forest, perceive the beauty of the forest and you feel to be in a complete harmony with it, then, intuitively, you are in peace with the Deities. They are an essential part of our real nature, our Deep Nature, and when we are separated by our real nature we live in the fear. Perceiving such normality means giving a real sense to our lives.

Undertaking the Roman Via to the Deities implies a path to awakening: with the practice of continuing consciousness and awareness we undertake our walking knowing that taking the path is more important than the destination itself

Arvalic Knowledge: again about herbs and plants

In my previous post, I have mentioned some principles as introduction to Theobotanica and Arvalic Knowledge. Here I would like to highlight the importance of the knowledge about herbs, plants and trees under many point of view. Firstly, I would like to evidence the importance of a diet where vegetables play a critical role: of course I do not want to fanatically sponsor a vegetarian or vegan diet of any kind. Just use your wisdom and good sense. I think that a real reduction in consumption of meat and/or food and beverages based on high levels of sugar can be a real healthy choice for all of us. That's all.

We can appreciate herbs and plants first of all for their taste consuming them as fresh or cooked vegetables or for examples as infusion. It is important also to remind their therapeutic role.

According to the Arvalic Science, there are, under the therapeutic point of view, three kinds of herbs: normal herbs we can consume as common food because they do not produce any harm, special herbs we can take also for long time to improve our health and powerful herbs we can take for very short periods as remedies for particular health problems.

We can use roots, leaves and flowers from the same plant and herb. All the herbs and plants showing therapeutical effects are named "healing herbs". Of course, when in good health conditions, it is not necessary to use healing herbs.

The most common method to take the benefits from the simples and healing herbs is the tisane or a beverage made of these herbs. It is possible to make also compresses and packs. Tisanes can be made through an infusion or decoction.

Infusion is generally adopted for flowers and leaves and for those herbs sensitive to high temperatures. An infusion can be obtained putting the flowers or leaves in boiled water leaving them in the water for about 15 minutes or pouring boiled water over the dried herbs. Then the beverage has to be strained.

Decoction can be used for all the parts of a plant above all the hardest ones. Herbs are mashed and put into water. Than the preparation has to be boiled for 15-20 minutes. The liquid is left steeping and strained.

IMPORTANT
It is important to remind some prudence and precautions. Traditions teaches us that herbs and plants can be beneficial for some and harmful for others or beneficial in a given moment and circumstance and harmful in others. This happens because these potions are not "universal remedies": they must put in relation with the individual peculiar and specific characteristics, her/his lifestyles and diet, her/his personal feelings and psychological conditions or the way thorugh which some health problems are manifested. It is thus necessary a very deep and long knowledge and experience about these issues.

Moreover, in my very limited personal experience I can say that recognizing these plants and herbs, learning and understanding their properties and features, the capability to prepare tisanes are something you cannot learn in a book or watching your computer or phone. It is always necessary the presence of very experienced people with deep skills and expertize, capable to direct us and teach us: above all it is necessary to make a long in-field experience (this is the real case!). Do not have trust in improvised people: similarly do not take wild herb without the necessary expertize and knowledge. In both cases the consequences may be very serious.
